THE ON CALL GROUP SHORTLISTED FOR A PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL AWARD.
The On Call Group is celebrating after being shortlisted for a prestigious national award which recognises great service in the security industry.
The Wolverhampton-based company – one of the largest independent home alarm firms in the United Kingdom – is one of the finalists in the British Security Awards.
Two of the company’s leading engineers Dan Harper and Carl Easson are in the running for the Installer of the Year Award after being selected by a panel of esteemed judges.
The pair responded to a cry for help from Midlands-based animal sanctuary Furs and Feathers last winter, who needed to install CCTV urgently after being swamped with abandoned litters of kittens.
The boys attended and installed a CCTV camera system allowing the sanctuary owners the ability to police who is responsible for cruelly dumping the animals on their doorstep.
The sanctuary is run entirely by volunteers on a charity basis and is full to capacity when it comes to trying to rehome abandoned pets.
The On Call Group CEO, Lee Hosking, offered to help after reading of the cattery’s plight on social media.
He said: “We were more than happy to provide our services free of charge to help install what was a complex camera system to enable the sanctuary to keep an eye on things.
“It was heartbreaking to hear of all the animals that were being dumped and the pressure this was putting on those who run the place through the goodness of their hearts.”
The installers will now join colleagues at a glittering awards luncheon at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London’s Hyde Park in July when the overall winner will be announced.
The On Call Group faces some stiff opposition from the other finalists including a project to secure a water treatment works and an installation at a shopping mall.
Andrew Cooper, from the British Security Industry Association, said: “On behalf of the association I would like to thank The On Call Group for the invaluable contribution that your company and your team provide in keeping people, property and pales professionally protected.”
